A'ja Wilson leaves on high note

Top prospect A'ja Wilson scored 37 points in Heathwood Hall's overtime victory over Northwood in the SCISA Class AAA state championship.

Now that's going out in style.

A'ja Wilson, the No. 1 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100 for the 2014 class, scored 37 points on Saturday in her final high school game to lead Heathwood Hall to the South Carolina Independent Schools Association AAA State Championship with a 66-58 overtime win over Northwood Academy.

And she added to her legend even before the final buzzer.

With Heathwood Hall trailing 55-52, Wilson hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime.

"Steven Spielberg couldn't have written it any better," said Roscoe Wilson, A'ja's father.

Wilson, who is expected to announce her college decision next month, has narrowed her list to North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Connecticut.

Named the the Women's Basketball Coaches Association player of the year last week, Wilson is planning to play in the McDonald's All American Game in Chicago on April 2.
