Czarniak will be first female host of Indy 500

Lindsay Czarniak will be the first woman on-air host of the Indianapolis 500 May 26 on ABC.

Brent Musburger had hosted since 2005. Play-by-play announcer Marty Reid and analysts Eddie Cheever and Scott Goodyear will join Czarniak.

"It was a surprise to me," Czarniak told USA Today. "It's something I'd dreamed about getting the opportunity to do."

ESPN's IndyCar crew also includes pit reporters Rick DeBruhl, Jamie Little and Vince Welch. Dr. Jerry Punch is a fourth pit reporter during the Indianapolis 500.

Czarniak, who is a "SportsCenter" anchor, joined ESPN in 2011. She previously worked in Jacksonville, Miami and Washington, D.C. and worked as a pit reporter for TNT's coverage of Sprint Cup races. This will be her first event coverage for ESPN/ABC.
