Gabby Green turns Golden, again

Gabby Green got her first international experience this summer playing for Team USA but decided to stay much closer to home for college.

Gabby Green, the No. 13 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100 for the 2014 class and a native of Oakland, has given a verbal commitment to California.

Green, a 6-foot-1 wing, joins fellow California star Mikayla Cowling, also a 6-foot-1 wing, in the Golden Bears' 2014 class. Cowling is the No. 11 prospect in the 2014 class.

Coach Lindsay Gottlieb and the Golden Bears made it to the Final Four in 2012-13, falling to Louisville in the national semifinals. Gottlieb signed a contract extension through the 2017-18 season over the summer.

Green had also been considering Tennessee, Rutgers and Ohio State.

Green won a gold medal with Team USA this summer at the FIBA Women's U-19 World Championship in Lithuania. As a junior at Saint Mary's College High (Berkeley, Calif.), she led her team to a 30-5 record and averaged d 16.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 4.2 steals.
