NBA: Tonight the Mavericks visit the Spurs in a battle of Lone Star State squads. Dallas will be without Dirk Nowitzki for a ninth straight game as he continues to battle a knee injury. The Bulls and the Heat will meet for the first time this season on Saturday night, but the United Center faithful may not get to see the Derrick Rose vs. LeBron James matchup they're hoping for, as James may not be fully recovered from a sprained ankle.
Women's college basketball: No. 15 Florida State welcomes No. 3 Duke to town tonight. The 15-0 Blue Devils are hoping they don't meet the same fate as their male counterparts, who suffered their first loss of the season Wednesday night to Florida State. The Noles are 1-2 against ranked teams this season, with a win against Vanderbilt and losses to Michigan State and UConn. On Sunday, the No. 10 Michigan State Spartans take their sparkling 4-0 Big Ten mark to No. 24 Ohio State. The Buckeyes' 1-3 conference record has them sitting second-to-last in the Big Ten.
Men's college basketball: On Saturday afternoon, the Duke men will play for the first time since Wednesday's loss to Florida State spoiled their perfect record. ACC opponent Virginia will be looking to bounce back as well, as the Cavaliers fell to UNC 62-56 in their last contest. Saturday's slate doesn't stop there, though. No. 13 Texas A&M hosts No. 12 Missouri, who has won 10 of its past 11 games. Also, No. 16 Illinois will head to Madison to take on No. 21 Wisconsin, who fell to Michigan State in overtime on Tuesday. The Illini are coming off a disappointing conference loss as well, as they dropped a 57-55 decision to Penn State Tuesday night on a last-second putback.
