Men's college basketball: Five top 25 teams are in action tonight, highlighted by a Big Ten clash as No. 18 Michigan State (12-5, 4-1 Big Ten) visits No. 22 Illinois (13-5, 3-2 Big Ten) at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 54-54. No. 12 Kentucky (14-3, 2-1 SEC) heads to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama (10-7, 2-1 SEC) at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Crimson Tide are a perfect 9-0 at home this season and have won 10 straight home games dating back to last season. Kentucky dominates the all-time series, 100-35. We're also watching BYU's Jimmer Fredette, the nation's leading scorer, and the No. 9 Cougars host TCU at 10 p.m. ET.
Women's college basketball: At 7 p.m. ET, it's a Big East showdown between two top 20 teams as No. 17 Georgetown (14-4, 2-2 Big East) visits No. 10 Notre Dame (15-4, 4-4 Big East).
NBA: After a jam-packed MLK Day schedule, there are only two NBA games tonight. At 7:30 p.m. ET, the Atlanta Hawks (27-15) visit the Miami Heat (30-12), who have lost their last three games and will be without Chris Bosh. At 8 p.m. ET, the Chicago Bulls (28-13) host the Charlotte Bobcats (15-24). The Bobcats have lost three straight road games vs. the Bulls.
Australian Open: Live action from the Australian Open continues on ESPN2 starting at 9 p.m. ET. Tonight's notables include top seed Caroline Wozniacki at 7 p.m., No. 8 seed Andy Roddick at 9 p.m., No. 4 seed Venus Williams and No. 14 seed Maria Sharapova both playing at 11 p.m., No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic at 1 a.m. and second-seeded Roger Federer at 5 a.m.
