Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California
W: J. Lackey (6-4)
L: F. Liriano (4-10)
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- John Lackey's only regret about his latest start was that he didn't get one more shot at getting Joe Mauer out.
Lackey had already given up two homers to Mauer when the AL batting leader came up with a runner on and two outs in the eighth, but Angels manager Mike Scioscia went to the bullpen to close out Los Angeles' victory over the Minnesota Twins, 6-3 on Friday night. Why John Lackey Won
• Success against lefties: Twins lefties had .143 batting average Friday; lefties vs. Lackey entering Friday had a .331 batting average
• Retired every leadoff batter
• Overcame 50 percent first-pitch strike percentage, 93 percent success rate throwing one of his first two pitches for strikes
• Six swinging strikes via curveball
