Lee masterful as he goes the distance to shut down Giants in first Phils start
SAN FRANCISCO -- Cliff Lee had no-hit stuff. He wasn't exactly rooting for a no-no, however. Not just yet.
"I'm kind of glad I didn't throw a no-hitter," Lee said following a fabulous debut for the Philadelphia Phillies. "If I did that the first time, I'd have to live up to some high expectations."Cliff Lee Fast Facts
• Cliff Lee became the first Phillies pitcher to pitch a complete game in his first game with the team since Paul Byrd in 1998.
• Lee improved to 14-1 with a 2.44 ERA after the All-Star Break in the last two seasons.
• Lee has three complete games in his last four starts.
• Lee was also the first Phillies pitcher to get two hits in his first game since Dennis Cook in 1989.
