LOS ANGELES -- Two mistakes ended Adam Wainwright's no-hit bid. Luckily for the St. Louis Cardinals, they still won the game.
Matt Holliday's sacrifice fly snapped a ninth-inning tie for a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night in the series finale between two first-place teams. It was the Cardinals' fifth consecutive series win over the Dodgers.Fast Facts
• Matt Holliday's sacrifice fly, his first career go-ahead RBI in the ninth inning, gave the Cardinals their 10th win in 12 games.
• Adam Wainwright, who was attempting to become the first pitcher to reach 15 wins this season, allowed two earned runs in seven innings but got the no decision after he lost a no-hitter with one out in the sixth. It's his 11th straight start with fewer than three earned runs, tied with Bob Gibson for the second longest streak by a Cardinals pitcher over the last 50 years.
• Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw is winless in his last six starts, the second longest streak of winless starts in his career. L.A. has lost five of seven.
