Kubel's pair of 3-run HRs help Twins force one-game playoff with Tigers
MINNEAPOLIS -- More than 51,000 fans and dozens of players from Metrodome lore turned out on Sunday to say goodbye to this big, dingy building after 28 weird, wacky and sometimes wonderful baseball seasons.
One For All
For the second straight year, the Twins are headed for a playoff for the AL Central crown. This time they'll face the Tigers. Here's a look at all of the one-game playoff games in MLB history:
| '08 | AL Central | White Sox 1, Twins 0 |
| '07 | NL Wild Card | Rockies 9, Padres 8 |
| '99 | NL Wild Card | Mets 5, Reds 4 |
| '98 | NL Wild Card | Cubs 5, Giants 3 |
| '95 | AL West | Mariners 9, Angels 1 |
| '80 | NL West | Astros 7, Dodgers 1 |
| '78 | AL East | Yankees 3, Red Sox 2 |
| '48 | AL Pennant | Indians 8, Red Sox 3 |
Fast Facts
• For the second straight season, the Twins are headed for one-game playoff for the Central title. This is the first time a team has played an extra game to determine the division title in back-to-back seasons.
• Jason Kubel had two homers and six RBIs. He's just the fourth player to have a pair of six-RBI games in the same season and the first since Kirby Puckett in 1994.
• Carl Pavano won, pitching on three days rest for only the second time in his career.
