When the World Series is tied 1-1, the road team has a winning record in Game 3: 29-25. Road teams that have won Game 3 in a 1-1 series have gone on to win the World Series 22 times out of 54 previous occasions.

Game 3 favors road team?

The last 15 times that teams split the first two games of the World Series (going back to 1977), the home team is 5-10 in Game 3. Of the five home teams that won Game 3, four won the title. The 10 home teams that lost Game 3 went on to lose the series eight times.

Guthrie, Hudson make WS debut

Gwynn to be honored tonight

As part of the Game 3 dedication to Stand Up To Cancer, MLB will honor the late Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, who passed away in June at the age of 54 due to salivary gland cancer. Tony's wife, Alicia, and several other members of his family, will be on-hand.

Tonight's Game 3 of the World Series will be dedicated to advancing the fight against cancer and MLB will pay special acknowledgement to the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.

Royals' outfielder Lorenzo Cain will play in right field tonight instead of center in hopes to boost defense. Ned Yost on the last minute change:

"We've made a couple adjustments ... With this vast outfield, we knew that we had to put our best defense out there."
