Would probably go Spurs in 6 if Splitter were healthy. Spurs in 7 w/ his status unknown is dicey. Shame this series happens in 1st round.

Mike Mazzeo @MazzESPN

The 1994 Nuggets*, 1999 Knicks, 2007 Warriors, 2011 Grizzlies and 2012 76ers are the only teams to pull 8-over-1 upsets in playoff history

Cavs' quest to make history

The Cavaliers are seeking to become the 5th team in NBA history to win the title after missing the playoffs the previous season. Game 1 between the Celtics vs. Cavaliers coming up at 3pm ET on ESPN.

Boston Celtics @celtics

Stevens: "There's always pressure to play your best. That's good pressure. You have to live up & play to your standards this time of year."

Chris Forsberg @ESPNForsberg

David Blatt: “I’m not a Celtics fan anymore. I haven’t been for a while. … My Celtics fan days were Bill Russell and the crew."

Sunday Conversation: LeBron James

LeBron calls the Cavs a "first-year team" but is excited for the playoffs. Says the King: "It's the postseason. And we have a chance. And that's all you can ask." The 2-seed Cavs face the Celtics today at 3 p.m. ET on ABC.

OTD: Sixers-Pistons brawl, fined $162K

Twenty-five years ago today, an infamous late-game brawl broke out when Bill Laimbeer was on the receiving end of a Charles Barkley left hook. Said Laimbeer after the game: "[Barkley's] a loser. ... Nothing he says is intelligible anyway." And what of Barkley? "I won two titles tonight. I won the division title with my teammates, and I retained my undisputed heavyweight championship of the world."

Doc Rivers: CP3's intensity is like KG

"Kevin [Garnett] was insane. He was insane, I'm telling you, in a very positive way, but he was on another level. ... They're similar in the fact of their intensity and their preparation, but Chris [Paul] is not anything like KG as far as outward emotions. Chris is the exact opposite of that."

I’m proud that our kids are being drafted at unprecedented numbers, but what I’m more proud of is that they thrive in the NBA Playoffs.

Mavs can't get it done down south

The Mavs lost Game 1 against the Rockets 118-108 Saturday while James Harden scored 24 points. Losing in Houston has been a theme for the Mavs this season.

Doc Rivers: Spurs not unbeatable

Said the Clippers coach, who faces the Spurs tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET in Game 1: "No, I think you can beat anybody. You just have to match it. I've never met an unbeatable team. Everybody's beatable. You've just gotta hang in there long enough to do it."
