Prior to its loss to 11th-seeded Virginia Commonwealth on Thursday night, Duke was 27-1 under Mike Krzyzewski in the NCAA Tournament in games against teams seeded 11th or lower. That lone defeat was by one point, 74-73 to Gary Williams' Boston College Eagles in 1985. Elias Says
Thursday night's loss to VCU ended two impressive streaks by Duke. The Blue Devils had made nine straight Sweet 16 appearances until their loss to the Rams. Duke had also won 10 straight first round NCAA Tournament games, dating back to a 1996 loss to Eastern Michigan.
