WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Ella Ellis scored 23 points as Army took command early, then held off Lafayette 77-54 Wednesday night in Patriot League action, snapping a three-game skid and a six-game losing streak in the series.

Ellis, who now has 1,337 career points, is six points shy of cracking the Black Knights' all-time Top 10.

Kyle Toth's 3-pointer with 14:12 left in the first half gave Army (8-9, 1-1) a 15-4 lead. Ellis had 17 second-half points as the Black Knights withstood a Leopards charge that cut a 21-point lead to eight with 9 minutes left.

Lafayette (8-11, 1-1), which saw its three-game winning streak end, shot 36 percent from the field (18 of 50) and hit only 5 of 23 3-point attempts.

Army made 58.1 percent of its field goals (25 of 43), including 7 of 13 3-pointers, and had a 35-25 rebounding advantage.

Dan Trist led the Leopards with 16 points.
