CLINTON, S.C. -- Terence Smith scored 19 points and hit a late 3-pointer and two free throws to propel Tennessee-Martin past Presbyterian 73-70 Monday night.

The Skyhawks (5-8) faced a 10-point deficit with 6:47 remaining in the game, but fought back to tie the game at 66 with a 16-6 run capped by a 3-pointer from Marshun Newell.

After two exchanged buckets, Smith drained a dagger beyond the arc with 21 seconds left.

Austin Anderson sank two free throws to pull Presbyterian (3-9) back within one, but Smith countered with a pair of his own. Jordan Downing couldn't connect on a 3-pointer as time expired.

UT-Martin was 26 of 56 on field goal attempts and nailed 12 3-pointers. Mike Liabo led the Skyhawks with 20 points and Newell added 18.

The Blue Hose shot an efficient 59.6 percent, but committed 16 turnovers. Danny Herrera had 18 points and Downing contributed 17.
