LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Antwan Burrus had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead Liberty to a 77-59 victory over Howard Tuesday night.
Davon Marshall, who made 4 of 7 3-pointers, also had 16 points for Liberty (5-6) and Tomasz Gielo added 11.The Flames took control of the boards, pulling down 40 rebounds compared to Howard's 25. Liberty also made 48.9 percent from the field while Howard (3-12) could only convert 19 of 52 field goal attempts.Liberty jumped out to an early lead, but Howard came back to take the advantage 10-9 on a layup by Ausar Madison and free throw by Prince Okoroh. Liberty quickly retook the lead on a jump shot by Casey Roberts. The Flames stretched that to a 36-21 advantage with 3:11 remaining in the first period and led 40-25 at the half.Okoroh led the Bison with 24 points. Solomon Mangham contributed 10.
