TULSA, Okla. -- James Woodard scored a season-high 25 points to lead Tulsa to a 98-71 victory over Texas Southern Wednesday night.

Woodard hit from all over the court, going 7 of 13 from the field, sinking 7 of 8 from the line, and adding 4 of 6 from 3-point territory. Rashad Smith had 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Shaquille Harrison added 11 points, and Pat Swilling came off the bench to score 14.

Tulsa got off to a flat start to trail by seven early in the first period. Then Swilling and Woodard hit a flurry of 3-pointers to help tie the score at 17 and set the stage for 44-32 Tulsa lead by the break. The Golden Hurricanes (2-6) continued to dominate as Texas Southern struggled with eight turnovers in the second period, 15 overall.

Aaric Murray carried the Tigers (3-6), scoring 30 points with six rebounds and a steal.
