SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Joel Wright scored 21 points, and hit the game-winning free throws with 2.6 seconds left as Texas State edged South Alabama 67-66 in overtime Thursday.

Mychal Ammons hit two free throws to put South Alabama (8-18, 2-11 Sun Belt Conference) up by a point with 14.9 to go but fouled Wright in the waning seconds, setting up the clutch free throws.

Wright scored six of his points in the extra period and neither team led by more than two points in overtime.

Barrington Stevens III hit a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left to tie the game at 56 in regulation. After a Texas State turnover, Stevens missed a late buzzer-beater attempt. South Alabama closed the second half on an 11-6 spurt to force overtime.

Reid Koenen scored 26 points to lead the Bobcats (8-18, 4-9).

Augustine Rubit led the Jaguars with 22 points. Ammons had 15 points and 13 rebounds.
