Manhattan defeats Buffalo in overtime 84-81

Associated Press

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Rhamel Brown made two crucial blocks as Manhattan took an 84-81 overtime victory over Buffalo on Saturday at the Barclays Center.

Rich Williams' putback gave the Jaspers an 83-81 lead with 18 seconds left in overtime. Brown blocked two consecutive shots and teammate RaShawn Stores was fouled. Stores made 1 of 2 free throws, and a final Bulls 3-point shot missed.

Manhattan's Shane Richards forced overtime by making three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt with 5 seconds left.

George Beamon's 22 points led Manhattan. The Jaspers made a season-high 16 steals.

Jaspers starting point guard Michael Alvarado and Donovan Kates were ejected at 15:05 of first half after leaving the bench momentarily following an altercation on the floor.

Manhattan has won six straight games and, at 9-2, is off to its best start since 2001-02.

Shannon Evans scored 20 points to lead Buffalo (4-4).
