Hot start sparks Richmond past Duquesne 75-58

PITTSBURGH -- Kendall Anthony continued to fill the void by the loss of Richmond's top scorer, his 20 points leading the Spiders past Duquesne 75-58 on Wednesday night.

A week after losing leading scorer Cedrick Lindsay (18.3 ppg) for the season to torn meniscus in both knees, Anthony hit 20 or better for the third straight game.

Richmond (16-8, 6-3 Atlantic 10) opened the contest with Anthony, Wayne Sparrow and Deion Taylor knocking down back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers as the Spiders zipped out 9-2, extended that to 17-3 and were never threatened.

In the second half, Duquesne (10-13, 2-8) went more than 6 minutes without scoring, falling from nine points behind to 20.

Alonzo Nelson-Ododa had four of Richmond's five blocked shots to go with 10 points. ShawnDre' Jones scored 13 for the Spiders and Terry Allen 12.

Ovie Soko led the Dukes with 21 points and nine rebounds, Micah Mason scored 15.
