WASHINGTON -- Maurice Creek scored 22 points to lead George Washington to a 74-61 win over University of Maryland-Baltimore County on Saturday.

Kethan Savage contributed 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Kevin Larsen added 14 for the Colonials (10-1), who shot 53 percent from the field and tied the best season start in program history. George Washington led by as many as 19 points in the second half and held UMBC to just one field goal over the final six minutes.

UMBC (3-9) was looking for its first road win of the season but trailed 42-34 at the break and couldn't close the gap in the second half. Brett Roseboro scored 13 points for UMBC, while Rodney Elliott added 10 and seven rebounds.

The two teams last met in 2009 when George Washington won in a 94-51 blowout.
