DURHAM, N.C. -- Jeremy Ingram scored 20 points and Karamo Jawara made a game-winning free throw with a second remaining to give North Carolina Central a 53-52 victory over Morgan State Monday.
The win puts North Carolina Central (14-5, 5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) alone atop the conference standings. Morgan State (6-12, 4-2) entered the game tied with NCCU for the conference lead.NCCU led 52-48 with 1:20 remaining. Ian Chiles made two free throws and Donte Pretlow made a basket with 38 seconds left to tie the score at 52. Jawara made the first of two free throws with .07 remaining and missed the second on purpose.Morgan State held a 41-31 lead midway of the second period. Jay Copeland had a three-point play that started a 16-2 run, that gave the Eagles a 47-43 lead with 4:26 remaining.Jawara finished with 13 points for NCCU. Justin Black had 17 for Morgan State.
