Tankelewicz ended on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and had three 3-pointers.

Senior guard Trey Sumler became the fifth all-time Western Carolina player to surpass 1,800 career points, as both he and Justin Browning scored 10 points.

The Catamounts (12-10, 5-2 Southern) led by 14 at the break and opened up the second half with a 3-pointer by Sumler. Despite going the next 4:24 without a basket, Western Carolina still led by 11 with 15 minutes to go.
