RUSTON, La. -- Kenneth Dixon rushed for 102 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries as Louisiana Tech cruised to a 58-31 win over Nevada-Las Vegas Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (5-0) matched the 1975 team for the best start in program history.
Dixon's first running score stretched Louisiana Tech's lead to 27-7 in the second quarter, but the Rebels (1-5) charged back.
Nick Sherry tossed a pair of touchdowns as UNLV cut the lead to 27-24.
Sherry finished the game 22-of-46 passing for 378 yards and three scores, but the Bulldogs halted the Rebels' comeback there.
Dixon scored his second touchdown two minutes after Sherry's second score, and then Matt Nelson connected on a 43-yard field goal, his third of the game. Dixon added two more scores as Louisiana Tech pulled away.
