SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Jazmin Pitts scored a career-high 20 points off the bench as the Virginia women upended No. 17 Vanderbilt 73-66 on Friday in the first game of the San Juan Shootout.

Pitts hit 9-of-14 shots in her 26 minutes, 8 seconds of action. Her offensive output helped Virginia outscore Vanderbilt 28-14 off the bench.

Virginia jumped to a 37-26 halftime lead on 15-of-22 shooting (68.2 percent) in the first half. Vanderbilt made strides to close the gap in the second half, but was hindered by a 36.4 shooting percentage (24 of 66) for the game.
