2012 NFL Power Rankings: Week 14
Scratching your head over Week 13? You're probably not alone.
Sure, the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons held serve at No. 1 and 2, but three teams in our previous top six suffered tough losses. Did anyone really see the Seattle Seahawks (only one previous road victory) winning at Chicago? Or the St. Louis Rams taking down the San Francisco 49ers? What about the Big Ben-less Pittsburgh Steelers scoring a road victory over the Baltimore Ravens?
Those upsets forced our voters (ESPN.com's John Clayton, ESPN.com's Ashley Fox, NFC East blogger Dan Graziano, AFC North blogger Jamison Hensley and NFC West blogger Mike Sando) to reconfigure things toward the top. The Ravens dropped from No. 4 to No. 6, the Bears dropped from No. 6 to No. 8 and the 49ers slipped one spot to No. 4.
Are more changes on the way? Don't bet against it. Almost all of our top teams have tough closing schedules, and upstarts such as the Cincinnati Bengals and Seahawks are lurking just outside the top 10.
The hard part is identifying who is most likely to fall. As we learned in Week 13, the NFL is anything but predictable.
