Research Notes
Russell Wilson had used the shotgun on just 52 percent of his dropbacks entering Week 9 (28th among qualified passers) but perhaps he and the Seahawks should use it a bit more. Wilson completed 10-of-14 attempts out of the shotgun against the Vikings for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns--his second-consecutive game with two touchdown passes out of shotgun formations. Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch each gained more than 40 percent of their rushing yards up the middle on Sunday and they did it against two solid defenses. Peterson's two touchdowns on those carries matched the number that Seattle had surrendered in eight previous games this season. Lynch gained his yards against a Vikings front that had allowed 2.8 yards per rush up the middle, second-lowest in the NFL. [+]Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch Rushing Up the Middle, Sunday
