Week 15 24-21-3 18 The Jets -- as they did so often as the Atlanta Thrashers -- fell short of the postseason after a spirited run down the stretch. Still too many holes in the lineup and too many pucks in the back of their net. Are they close to being a playoff team? Hard to tell at this stage.
Week 14 23-19-4 16 The Jets aren't getting much help as the Caps, Rangers and Islanders keep winning. Still, a dramatic come-from-behind effort Saturday salvaged a crucial point against the Isles. They need to sweep their final three games against Buffalo, Washington and Montreal if they want to join the playoff dance.
Week 13 21-19-2 19 A quirk in the schedule saw the Jets cool their heels over the weekend, given a four-day break between Thursday's win over Florida and a home game versus Tampa on Tuesday night. A game that looms large: April 23 at Washington.
Week 12 19-19-2 18 The Jets delivered a crucial win Saturday over Philadelphia to stop a five-game slide. The win was the first in a six-game homestand that will determine whether the playoffs are a possibility. Given how poorly the Jets play at home, don't bet the farm on games in May.
Week 11 18-16-2 18 Just when you want to believe in the Jets they go completely sideways, as they have gone 2-4-0 in their past six games. They've been outscored 17-2 during those four losses and have allowed Carolina and Washington to stay in the hunt for the Southeast Division title.
Week 10 17-14-2 14 The Jets were absolutely crushed at home in back-to-back nights by the Caps but had a nice response Sunday night with a win over Tampa.
Week 9 15-12-2 11 No denying the work done by coach Claude Noel, as the Jets have moved at least temporarily into first place in the Southeast. A marathon shootout win over Toronto on Saturday completed a two-game sweep of the Leafs, although they swooned Sunday in a 4-1 loss to Ottawa. Still, 8-3-1 in their past 12 has the Jets firmly in the playoff mode. Can they keep it going?
Week 8 12-11-2 20 Can the Jets reel in Carolina with the Hurricanes missing Cam Ward? The Jets are only three points behind but need to find more consistency in their game.
Week 7 10-10-1 19 A disappointing loss at home to Washington Saturday blunted some of the enthusiasm from recent road success, but Jets are still 5-2-0 in their past seven and are two points out of eighth in the East with two games in hand.
Week 6 8-9-1 25 Solid road trip so far with three wins in four games, including Sunday's 4-2 victory at New Jersey.
Week 5 5-8-1 27 The Jets rank last in the league on the penalty kill, have lost three in a row and appear headed nowhere ... again.
Week 4 5-5-1 22 Hot homestand this week for the Jets: Flyers on Tuesday, Pittsburgh on Friday and Boston on Sunday.
Week 3 3-4-1 23 A rather miserable week for the Jets, who gave up five in the third period in a loss to Florida, then were waxed 8-3 by Tampa Bay. Worst penalty-killing unit by far in the NHL. Maybe the world.
Week 2 3-1-1 14 Is there a tougher rink in the NHL to play in? Don't think so. I love watching the Jets at home. Nice comeback win over the Islanders on Sunday night.
Week 1 0-0-0 28 The Jets need to learn to win away from the raucous MTS Centre, and they need to find out what kind of character is in Evander Kane, Dustin Byfuglien and Ondrej Pavelec.
Preseason 0-0-0 28 They've got the right management team in place to do what's right here in the long run. In the short term, this team takes a step back this year.
Spring Training 0-0-0 29 This team still looks all too much like an Atlanta Thrashers team that failed to win a single playoff game. Not sure of the goaltending with Ondrej Pavelec, who was cited for drunk driving in the Czech Republic but didn't bother to tell management. Team defense is still suspect and there's not enough scoring depth up front. Not sure how this adds up to anything but more misery.
