Goodell out as commissioner?

The NFL has been criticized for its handling of the Ray Rice case ever since it handed a two-game suspension to Rice for an offseason arrest for domestic violence. This week the outcry has grown exponentially, as video of Rice striking his then-fiancee emerged, Rice was released by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL, and questions began swirling as to whether the league had seen or should have seen the video. Then on Wednesday came a potentially damning report, as a law enforcement official told the Associated Press that he sent the video to the NFL in April.

Commissioner Roger Goodell's future now is in doubt. Is his position no longer tenable?

NFL Week 7 -- Ravens at Steelers

Not long ago -- last year, maybe? -- Ravens-Steelers was among the NFL's best rivalries. And that was before Baltimore won the most recent Super Bowl. This season, though, both teams are struggling. Baltimore is stuck at .500 and Pittsburgh is coming off its first win of the season. With the Cincinnati Bengals not running away with the division, the Ravens remain in contention no matter what happens Sunday. But the Steelers might already be facing a must-win.

The Super Bowl XLVII matchup is set with the Ravens and 49ers squaring off in New Orleans on Feb. 3. Ray Lewis will be there for the final game of his storied 17-year career with the Ravens, as will Colin Kaepernick making just his 10th career start at quarterback for the 49ers. Throw in some top-notch wide receivers (Anquan Boldin, Michael Crabtree), tight ends (Vernon Davis, Dennis Pitta) and running backs (Frank Gore, Ray Rice) and we've got a pretty even matchup, with SportsNation giving the slight edge to the Niners. We may not have the Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning matchup in the AFC Championship Game much of SportsNation wanted to see, but both championship games are loaded with talent. Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez are hoping to end their careers on top, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is two games away from winning a Super Bowl in his 10th career start, and Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan's 0-for-3 record in the playoffs is history after a thrilling 30-28 victory over the Seahawks.
