HISTORY:

PNC Park is the first ballpark with a two-deck design to be built in the United States since Milwaukee's County Stadium was completed in 1953. The highest seat in the stadium is but 88 feet from the field; it's all part of an intimate layout to provide optimal sight lines. PNC Park serves as the fifth home of the Pittsburgh Pirates since their inception in 1887. The total cost of the ballpark was $262 million. The outfield wall rises up to 21 feet behind right field (in honor of the Pirates legendary right fielder Roberto Clemente, who wore jersey 21) and drops down to just six feet in front of the left-field bleachers. From home plate to the Allegheny River is 443 feet, 4 inches.

Soak up the scene:

Park your car across the river and join other fans in walking across the Roberto Clemente Bridge to the game. Once inside, grab an Iron City beer and enjoy views of the Pittsburgh skyline and some of those prominent bridges. Sadly, the Pirates are perennial losers now, but that just makes it easier for fans of opposing teams to invade. Kids:

PNC Park offers complimentary admission to children under 30 inches in height. However, these children must sit in their parent or guardian's lap and not occupy an additional seat. Promotional giveaway items are only available for ticketed guests. Children's tickets are the same price as adults.

Our staff will proactively intervene to support an environment where: The progress of the game will not be disrupted by guests' actions or unauthorized persons on the playing field; Obscene or indecent clothing will not detract from the guest experience; Guests will enjoy the baseball experience free from foul/abusive language or obscene gestures; Guests will refrain from displays of affection not appropriate in a public, family setting; Intervention with an impaired or intoxicated guest will be handled in a prompt and safe manner; Guests will show their tickets when requested and sit only in their ticketed seats.

Will Call:

Phone and Internet purchases may be picked up with confirmation number and photo ID at any open PNC Park ticket window, during normal business hours or on game nights. Tickets ordered for luxury suites or through special arrangements from members of the Pirates' organization, including players and front-office staff, are to be picked up at the Main Box Office windows, located at the corner of Federal and West General Robinson streets. Complimentary tickets may be picked up 90 minutes prior to game time. Windows are designated as "Will Call" by electronic message signs.

Directions:

There are lots of easy ways to get to PNC Park. We recommend using public transportation, or, if you're driving, parking downtown or at perimeter facilities, such as Station Square, Mellon Arena, the Strip District or Allegheny Center. From downtown, it's just a four-minute walk to PNC Park across the Roberto Clemente Bridge. From the north on I-279 (including Beaver and Butler Counties) – To Allegheny Center garage (2,400 spaces): Take Exit 8B (old Exit 15); go Right onto North Avenue; go Left onto Federal Street; follow signs to garage. (Note: After games, follow signs to North I-279 via HOV from Lacock Street at Anderson Street.) To North Shore surface lots (7A - 7D, 820 spaces): Take Exit 7A (old Exit 12) to Reedsdale Street; make first right to Martindale Street; proceed to surface lots. To Ft. Duquesne Boulevard and Sixth Street Garage (930 spaces): Take Exit 6C (old Exit 10) to Ft. Duquesne Boulevard. From the northeast on Route 28 – To River Road surface lots (adjacent to Heinz plant, 600 spaces): Make left onto 31st Street Bridge; make immediate right onto River Road; follow River Road to surface lot entrances. To Allegheny Center garage (2,400 spaces): Make right onto East Ohio Street; follow to East Commons; follow Commons Square to garage entrance. From the northwest on Route 65 – To North Shore Gold Lots 1 and 2: Take Exit Ramp to North Shore; follow signs to Gold Lots. From the south on I-279 – To downtown parking: Take Exits 6B or 6C (old Exits 9 or 10); park in one of 61 downtown parking garages and surface lots throughout the downtown area. (Note: After games, exit via Liberty Bridge/Tunnel and follow detour signs to South I-279.) From Route 51 – To downtown parking: Take Liberty Bridge; use 6th Avenue exit; park in a parking garage and surface lot. (Note: After games, exit via Liberty Bridge/Tunnel.) From the east I-376 – To downtown parking: Take Exits 2B, 1D, 1C, or 1B (old Exits 6, 4, 3 or 2); park in a parking garage and surface lot. (Note: After games, take Ramp from Boulevard of Allies at Grant Street or Ramp from Seventh Avenue). To Allegheny Center and North Shore Blue garage/surface lots (10, 11, 12, 16 and 17): Take Exit 2B (old Exit 6) to Crosstown Boulevard (I-579); exit to 7th Avenue; go to 9th Street Bridge; cross bridge and make left onto Lacock Street; follow signs to garages/lots. From Route 28 – To River Road surface lots (adjacent to Heinz plant, 600 spaces): Make left onto 31st Street Bridge; make immediate right onto River Road; follow River Road to surface lot entrances. To Allegheny Center garage (2,400 spaces): Take right onto East Ohio Street; follow to East Commons; follow Commons Square to garage entrance. Parking:

Downtown: At one of the seven downtown Parking Authority garages ($3 on game days/nights) or at PPG and Westinghouse garages (also $3 on game days/nights); these garages are within a 12-minute walk of PNC Park. At one of the other 52 downtown parking garages/surface parking lots. At perimeter facilities (Mellon Arena, Station Square, the Strip District) with public transportation to get you to the park. Transportation:

Port Authority regular bus service offers more than 50 routes servicing the region to downtown. Port Authority shuttle service originates from Station Square, Mellon Arena and the Strip District. Circulate downtown and drop off at the south end of the Roberto Clemente Bridge. Service begins 90 minutes prior to game time. Cost is $1 per rider each way. Port Authority regional weekend bus service for Friday, Saturday and Sunday games only. Originating from Showcase Cinema North, Monroeville Mall, Century III Mall, Thorn Run Park 'N Ride, Neville Island Park 'N Ride. Cost is $4 per rider each way.
