NFL 2Night

  • Information on tonight's show

ESPN2's NFL 2Night, the network's live NFL news and information program, returned to its five-nights-a-week schedule on Tuesday, July 27. Mark Malone hosts the 30-minute program, which will be aired Tuesday through Saturday live at 7:30 p.m. ET (except Saturdays when it will generally be aired following college football telecasts). NFL 2Night, which premiered last July, is aired weekly during the off-season.

    Monday Night Countdown
ESPN's Monday Night Countdown will expand to a two-hour format this season, providing 30 additional minutes of comprehensive analysis, interviews, highlights, up-to-the-minute NFL news and live reports from the site of ABC's Monday Night Football game.

Along with an in-depth look at the Monday night game, Monday Night Countdown will review the entire Sunday slate of games, update Monday's league-wide news, as well as preview the upcoming week. The program will kick-off August 2 with the first of six pre-season, 30-minute shows beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Monday Night Countdown will expand to its new, two-hour regular-season format on September 13 beginning at 7:00 p.m

"Our show has broken new ground," said Malone, a 10-year NFL quarterback with Pittsburgh, San Diego and the New York Jets. "Players and coaches tell me they watch the program on a regular basis. One head coach told me he makes sure to watch our show more than any other because of its information content. And if he can't watch the show, he tells his assistant to tape it and report back on what we aired."

Malone, who joined ESPN in 1993 to provide reports for the network's NFL coverage and SportsCenter, is teamed with analysts Mike Golic, Merril Hoge and Sean Salisbury. Salisbury is an eight-year NFL quarterback with Seattle, Indianapolis and Minnesota who spent two seasons in the CFL where he led his team to the Grey Cup. Salisbury joined the network in August 1997 as sideline reporter for college football games on ESPN2. Golic, a nine-year defensive tackle with Houston, Philadelphia and Miami, joined ESPN as a Sunday NFL Countdown reporter in 1995. Hoge, an eight-year NFL fullback with Pittsburgh and Chicago, has also served as an analyst for Edge NFL Matchup and The NFL on ESPN Radio.

The program's depth chart also includes frequent contributions from John Clayton, Greg Garber, Ron Jaworski and Chris Mortensen as well as on-site reports from Andrea Kremer, Sal Paolantonio, Ed Werder, Suzy Kolber, Jeremy Schaap, Melissa Stark and Hank Goldberg. In addition, a steady stream of current NFL players will continue to join the NFL 2Night team in-studio all season long.

NFL 2Night will continue to provide daily NFL news, including updates on injuries and player transactions, and will focus on current trends and issues. While programs early in the week will include analysis and reviews of the previous Sunday and Monday games, later shows will look ahead to the matchups and X's and O's of upcoming games.

NFL 2Night will offer its NFL information with a unique presentation of daily league news and team reports, analysis, reporters' notebooks, playbooks, and contributions from ESPN.com.
